This week everybody connected to the Sea ( and we all are ) were shocked by the Crash of Rescue 116.
The Rescue helicopter is close to our heart as we suffered a similar loss locally 18 years ago in Waterford. Even more as Captain Dara Fitzpatrick was our Base Commander in Waterford.
Our deepest sympathy to the family of Dara , Mark Duffy, Ciaran Smith and Paul Ormsby who lost their lives
whilst on duty trying to look after others; their sense of duty and courage saved many.
Our thoughts are also with the rescue services and especially their colleagues that will continue to provide the
services for many in need at sea and on land.
As a sailing community we must ensure, in respect of their memory, that we will do all in our powers to make sure
we are best prepared to go to sea. Their services are exceptional and may never be taken for granted.
