Tuesday saw the start of the School Sailing programme with the local school – Light of Christ. Eleven very excited girls had “the most amazing time” in super sailing conditions – fresh winds and sunshine.
Wednesday brought sailing “as Gaeilge” as 23 pupils from Gaelscoil Phortlairge, Ballygunner, took to the waves in 3 Wayfarers. The word “awesome” was used a lot.
Fresh winds again on Thursday for the pupils of Educate Together who had a brilliant time despite the drizzly misty morning.
Friday was the turn of Faithlegg School and 23 pupils sailed in glorious sunshine and again fresh winds.
All children went home exhausted and excited and cant wait for round 2!
Thanks to all who gave the loan of wetsuits and buoyancy aids to make these fun days on the water possible.
Thanks also to Senior Instructor Conor and his crew of Katie, Zoe, Matthew, Conor, Geoff, James and safety officer Dave who made this an fantastic experience for so many of our local children.
