5 Waterford Harbour Sailing Club boats battling it out in Sovereigns Cup Kinsale

It is quiet with cruiser racing in Dunmore East. Some of our Fleet have ventured west to battle it out in Sovereigns Cup in Kinsale. 4 days of quality racing in Kinsale against boats from as far as the UK , Howth and the West Coast of Ireland.

Halfway through day 2 of the event Fool’s Gold leads the Class 1 with 3 Bullets. Their old rivals Storm and Joker 2 are however hot on their heals…..

Only just recovered from their Dun Laoghaire to Dingle success Fulmar Fever helmed by Dave Delahunty got off to a blistering start. A fierce battle between the Flyover and Fulmar Fever at sea showed that in cruiser racing there is no love lost when it comes to cruiser racing in a major championships.

Meltimi is starting to lift her skirts in the same class 4 in her first event and we will see her surely picking up a few tricks during the event.

In Class 1 White Sails. Slack Alice is holding her own in a field of very good sailors; they might not hoist the kite but sailing they can do for sure in this class.

The weather for the next few days is promising some more Champagne sailing which makes this very well organised event even more enjoyable.

Keep flying WHSC’s flag high lads !
