Throughout May, WHSC Dinghy Captain Conor Cronin ran a three part series of Zoom talks for everyone who plans to take part in dinghy racing this summer – or anyone who was just curious about how it all works.
The sessions were hugely informative and very well attended, so a big thank you from everyone at the club to Conor. If you missed them, you can now watch all three sessions back by clicking on the links below, or copying and pasting into your browser.
Week 1, held on Tuesday May 11, covered information on the new course card for this summer and sailing instructions.
Week 2, on Tuesday May 18, was all about starts and getting prepared.
Week 3, which happened on Tuesday May 25, was a rules refresher.
The next step is to actually get out on the water, so please do join our two training races. These are for dinghy sailors who are new to racing – or who just want more experience – on Wednesday evening June 9 and Saturday June 12 2021. These are fun, pressure-free practice sessions to give all sailors the opportunity to get used to timing their starts, following the course, and familiarising themselves with the rules. They won’t be scored as part of a series, so now is the time to make your mistakes.
More details of the sessions and upcoming racing will be posted in the WHSC dinghy WhatsApp group. Text 087 202 4670 to be added to the group and we’ll see you on the water.
