As well as the Club Cruiser Championships and RNLI fundraising event, this weekend also saw the WHSC host our much-loved annual fun races — Harris Trophy Parent and Child Optimist race and the Dale Morris fun race for dinghy sailors.
Over 20 boats entered the Harris Trophy race for Optimist sailors and their parents. Congratulations and a massive well done to winners Grainne and Grace Kelliher.
The Dale Morris is a fun sailing event for under 16 sailors. This year, a record 18 boats participated. Huge congratulations to our winners, Oppie fleet sailors, Jack Doolan and Nathan Harris.
Commodore Roy Power congratulated the winners and thanked dinghy captain Conor Cronin for organising the events.
After much deliberation and 110 entries, the judges also chose a name for our new committee boat. The final, unanimous decision was ‘Déise Buoy’, the name submitted by Rosa O’Connell Ivory.
Roy reminded members that the Dinghy Club Championships take place next weekend.
